K-pop group BTS wins 2020 UNICEF Inspire Award for “Love Myself” campaign

World-renowned K-pop group BTS has won the UNICEF Inspire Award from UNICEF for their “Love Yourself” campaign. UNICEF announced the award to BTS on June 22 yesterday. BTS launched its “Love Myself” campaign in 2017 to end the abuse of children and young people around the world.

The Inspire Awards have been recognized as the most influential UNICEF campaign in recent years by countries around the world. This year, 100 campaigns from 50 countries are included in 18 categories. The winners will be judged on a combination of online voting by UNICEF staff around the world and judging by judges. UNICEF Korea Secretary-General Lee Gichu said, “BTS’s message that we need to love ourselves in order to love others is fueling optimism around the world. “I believe this award is the result of their positive influence, as BTS gives children and young people around the world both courage and comfort.”

In September 2018, BTS traveled to the United States to help the younger generation listen to their instincts and resist stress.
